WVS Studio Amenities are provided to ensure the student’s experience isn’t limited to the private lesson. Below are current amenities the studio provides for all students. We are always expanding and looking for new ideas, so if you have one please write us at admin@vocalstudios.com and put “Amenities” in the subject line.
STUDIO AMENITIES (Midtown Manhattan Location)
Cold Spring Water – Located in the reception area, students are provided fresh spring water enhanced with electrolytes.
Clean Air – Ionization/anti-bacterial units are located in reception and in each of the teacher’s studios.
Supplement Packages – Flu season isn’t a joke when it comes to maintaining a performance career. The $40,000 cold is not uncommon in the opera and Broadway worlds. In conjunction with Metametrix® and Designs for Health®, WVS has designed anti-viral and anti-flu packets for students in duress. In addition, material about complementary health care is provided in the library.
Student I.D.’s – WVS provides students (upon request) with official Student ID cards, good for discounts at any stores, theaters, salons and venues where student I.D.s are accepted. Great for student rush tickets!
Reception Library – The book library in reception has many books on vocal and acting technique, updated Backstage and Classical Singer magazines, industry reports and other resources for the research-conscious student.
Sheet Music Library – As part of a student’s tuition, WVS provides all necessary sheet music for repertoire. If we don’t have it, we’ll buy it! Currently the sheet music library contains more than 40,000 songs and vocal scores or vocal selections books for over 100 musicals, 30 operas and a large assortment of compilation books. Each year, WVS orders $4,000 in new sheet music for the studio.
Sound File Library – In addition to the sheet music library, WVS has audio recordings of over 60,000 songs, including many rare performance recordings. Students are also encouraged to download new music through our download link on the website (see below).
Student Resource Packet – Don’t know where to record that demo? Looking to book work online? Need to know what is casting this season? Looking for a day job? An agent? An apartment? Try the student resource packet, loaded with TONS of information on audition resources, recording studios, jobs, agents, and pretty much everything the aspiring professional needs to fill in the rest of the blanks to an already-exciting life!
CD Players – Warm-up rooms are currently equipped with CD/mp3 players. Students check out custom-made warm-ups and prepare 30 minutes prior to each lesson in sound-proofed rooms. In addition, students are encouraged to listen to audio performances from our library at this station.
CD Recorders – Each studio is equipped with state-of-the-art Superscope digital recorders and professional-grade microphones to ensure a crisp, studio-quality recording of each lesson. Utilizing this technology, CDs can be burned at the push of a button, complete with separated tracks for each exercise or lecture recorded during the lesson.
DVD Stations (Spring 2008) – Students will have the enhanced warm-up experience of DVDs to guide them through the visual aspects of balance and preparation to along with audio warm-ups. Lectures and video performances may also be viewed at this station.
Sound-proofed practice studios – A perk about being a WVS student is that when a room is not in use, you can use it. Need a place to practice? Just drop by during business hours, and you’ll be good to go! (Note: practice rooms are small and meant for one student at a time)
STUDIO AMENITIES (Southern Pines Location)
Recording Studio – The same recording studio that lay down many of the tracks you hear on country, pop and hip-hop stations all over the country is located inside the SSPA school! Discounted professional recordings are made for current students.
